Earlier known as Cape Comorin, Kanyakumari is situated in the southernmost part of India in Tamil Nadu. The district consists of Nanjil Nadu and Idai Nadu and was ruled by several dynasties before being under the control of the British. Kanyakumari is famous for Kanyakumari Temple or Kumari Amman temple which is dedicated to Parvati. Once in Kanyakumari do visit the Vivekanada Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue on the rocky islets off the coast!
