Thiruvalluvar StatueThe Thiruvalluvar Statue is a whopping 40.6 m (133 feet tall) magnificent rock sculpture of the divine Tamil poet and philosopher Ayyan Tiruvalluvar, writer of the Thirukkural (most distinguished Tamil Sangam literature comprising of 1,330 thirukurals).
The architectural marvel of Thiruvlluvar Statue was uncovered during the year 2000 (1st January 2000) and is situated on a minuscule island close to the town of Kanyakumari, where the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea come together. The Thiruvalluvar Statue has a stairway inside it, from where the picturesque panorama of the ocean and the mainland can be relished. The hanging trough is regarded as the one of the highest and longest hanging bridges in South Asia.
